Use of Gadgets- A silent addiction among children.
What is an addiction? Simply an obsession with anything.
Today technological advancements had made a human being completely dependent on them. So, we can say that an obsession with a gadget like a cell phone, PSP, television, computers, tablets or any other electronic device is merely a gadget addiction. Today it can be easily noticed that be it a child, youth or adult, everyone has
an addiction to one or the other gadget. The most common one is a cell phone.
How many of us can live without a cell phone even for an hour? I guess no one. That is how the to tempt is maintained. Even a two-year-old child stops crying once these gadgets are in their hands. Even the parents today feel free by giving these gadgets away to their child. Now let us see how these gadgets misuse can be harmful.
Today young kids know how to operate their mobiles, open different apps and use them. Most of their valuable time is spent just on operating these gadgets which kills their time for exposure to the outdoor activities. This creates a habit of enjoying alone among kids. How many of today’s generation kids love to participate in the family get-together. Hardly few.
It can be a major cause of obesity among children since a young age as they are occupied playing with these gadgets in a seated position. This results in the lack of physical activities amongst them which makes them feel lethargic at such a young age.
Watching television for long hours (be it a cartoon channel) adversely affect their eyesight forcing them to wear spectacles at such a young age. It also creates an existence of aggressive behaviour patterns. A child today, if asked not to use gadgets, gets so intensified with anger that he /she is ready to skip meals to get them. It also creates the irritating behaviour among them. It also impacts their education as the focus is diverted.
So, it’s a challenge in today’s era for parents to make their child inculcate a habit of using these gadgets in a positive way without hampering their health and education.
