09 September 2018:
Recently, Xiaomi launched Redmi 6 Pro. The 6 Pro is an upgrade over Redmi 5. The smartphone comes in two variants. The base variant has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, The higher variant has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. Redmi 6 Pro and ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 are similiarly priced.
ASUS managed to undercut Xiaomi (in terms of price) by launching ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 at aggressive price. Let’s see what both these smartphones offers.
Processor and GPU
The Redmi 6 Pro has Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. we have seen this processor on so many Xiaomi smartphones – Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 5, Mi A1, Mi Max 2, Redmi Y2. Most of the Snapdragon 625 smartphones (offered by Xiaomi) are similar in features and price.
ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. The same processor is used in Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Here, Zenfone Max Pro has an edge, as the Snapdragon 625 is an old processor (compared to Snapdragon 636) and it doesn’t supports Dual VoLTE. It means that you can use two 4G networks simultaneously in Redmi 6 Pro. When using two SIM cards, only one will work at 4G at a time.
Redmi 6 Pro has Adreno 506, while Zenfone Max Pro has better Adreno 509 GPU.
Redmi 6 Pro has a 4000 mAh battery and ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M! has 1 5000 mAh battery. Both these smartphones gives good battery backup. These smartphones can easily sustain a day on moderate usage. Zenfone Max Pro has a slight edge over Redmi 6 Pro due to big battery and close to Stock User Interface.
The Redmi 6 Pro sports a 5.84 inch Full HD+ IPS display (with 2280x1080p resolution). It also sports has a Notch, due to which it has managed to get 19:9 aspect ratio.
The Zenfone Max Pro has a 5.99 inch Full HD+ IPS display (2160x1080p resolution). It doesn’t have a Notch.
Well if you a Notch hater, then Xiaomi has provided an option to hide the Notch, However due to IPS display, you can feel the Notch even after hiding it.
RAM and Processor
The Redmi 6 Pro has two variants – 3 GB RAM and 4 GB RAM. The 3 GB RAM variant has 32 GB internal storage and the 4 GB RAM variant has 64 GB internal storage.
ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 has three variants – 3 GB RAM, 4 GB RAM and 6 GB RAM. The 3 GB RAM variant has 32 GB internal storage. The 4 GB and 6 GB RAM variant have 64 GB internal storage.
Both these smartphones have a dedicated Micro-SD card slot.
The camera s can’t be compared just on the basis of specs, as software optimisation also matters.
Both the smartphones have Micro-USB port for charging and data transfer. Both smartphones also has a 3.5 mm Headphone Jack which is a good thing.
Both smartphones are good, the price of both smartphones are same (Rs 10,999 for 32 GB storage variant and Rs 12,999 for 64 GB storage). The Zenfone Max Pro has an edge over Redmi Note 6 Pro in terms of processor, battery (and a little bit bigger display).
If you want a feature-rich UI, then you can go with Redmi 6 Pro, but if you want a Stock-Android type UI and better processor, Zenfone Max Pro M1 is a better choice.
(Note: This comparison is based on specs. We will soon post the full caparison which will include camera comparison with real-life photos).
