02 September 2018:
Apple has sent out media invited for its iPhone event. The event will be held on 12 September at Steve Jobs Theater.
According to reports, this year’s iPhone model will be named as iPhone XS (pronounced as iPhone Ten S). This won’t be the first time when Apple is launching a device under S series, it has a history of launching “S” variants (iPhone 4S, iPhone 5S and iPhone 6S).
The company will launch two smartphones under the name iPhone XS. One of the smartphone will have 5.8 inch display and other will have 6.5 inch display. Both smartphones will have OLED displays (like last year’s iPhone X).
Both smartphones will have A12 processor. The A12 chip is based on 7 nm architecture. Last year’s chip (A11) was based on 10 nm architecture. The new chip is expected to be more power efficient (compared to older chips). The A12 chips is manufactured by TSMC. Reports states that the A12 chip is 20% faster and 40% more energy efficient than last year’s A11 chip.
Reports with leaked benchmark scores suggest that this year’s iPhone might consists 4 GB RAM. Last year, iPhone X had 3 GB RAM.
There are rumours that iPhone XS might have 3 rear cameras. Although it’s not clear (from renders) whether the 3 cutouts are for cameras only or one is for flash.
Aplle is also expected to launch a budget-friendly smartphone (which can be named as iPhone SE2). The iPhone SE2 will have LCD display (instead of OLED display used in iPhone X).
The new iPhones will run on iOS 12.
We will keep updating this article as we find something new related to iPhone XS.
