Badminton champions set to tie knot


Earlier this year we have seen cricketer, Virat Kohli marrying Bollywood actresses, Anushka Sharma. Now,  badminton champions Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap all set to tie a knot on December 16, 2018. Sources said that the Hyderabad based champions were in a relationship for the past 10 years.

Badminton Champions Marriage

As per the reports, the marriage is going to be a private affair along with close family and friends. However, a grand reception expected on December 21, 2018. Though the couple were in a relationship but never revealed or confirmed or denied about it. In 2005, they met each other at Gopichand Badminton Academy while Saina left the academy in 2014 and joined Prakash Padukone Academy, Banglore.

Saina Nehwal

28-years-old former number 1 badminton player so far has won 23 international titles. In 2015, she attained world number 1 ranking and was the only female badminton player of India to attain the rank. Also, she has become the first Indian badminton player to receive a medal in Olympics. Also, Saina was the first Indian to win a gold medal in two commonwealth games i.e 2010 and 2018.

The government of India honoured her with Padma Bhushan, Arjuna Award, Khel Ratna Award. Recently, in the Asian Games, she won a Bronze medal. She created a history by winning the first medal in badminton for India, at Asian Games 2018.

Parupalli Kashyap

32-years-old Parupalli Kashyap is supported by a not-for-profit organization, Olympic Gold Quest and trains at Gopichand Badminton Academy. In 2012 London Olympics Kashyap created history by becoming the first Indian male player entered in Quarterfinals in Olympics Men’s Singles. In 2010 commonwealth games he won a bronze medal while in 2014 commonwealth games he won a gold medal. Also, in 2013 he was ranked 6 in the world.

The government of India honoured him Arjuna Award. Also, he received cash awards from Badminton Association of India and from Telangana Government for 2014 commonwealth games gold medal.
