More than 1000 people benefited from Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY (Pradhan Mantri Jaan Arogya Yojana) in the country. Resources say that Chhatisgarh topped in availing the benefits of this scheme along with Haryana. Jharkhand, Assam and Madhya Pradesh followed them.

On September 23, 2018, Sunday Prime minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme in Ranchi. On the same day, he handed over five gold cards during the launch of the scheme. Poonam Mahto, 22, became the first beneficiary of the health programme to avail in after the official rollout. She gave birth to a baby girl in Jamshedpur.

PM said that “no other country in the world has such a large-scale healthcare programme”. He also added, “the total number of beneficiaries is more than the population of America, Cannada and Mexico put together”.
National Health Agency is responsible for implementing the scheme error-free. They are now busy in handling and dispatching the QR code letters. The letter has all the necessary details of the patient as well as scheme details along with the access of scheme. Arogya Mitra will scan the letters and provide the services, after proper verification.
All the identified families can avail this scheme at government hospitals and empanelled hospitals. An NHA official said that more than 40 lakh letters were dispatched. To implement the scheme error-free and to provide health services for the needy, NHA also started website www.mera.pmjay.gov.in. Any user wanted to avail this scheme can log in on their site after reading the eligibility. Beneficiaries can also call 14555 to know about the eligibility.
